Greenland

Misleading Mercator (use
Robinson or Winkel tripel instead)
This island is not nearly as big as you think. We visualize Greenland based on the awful cylindrical Mercator maps that exaggerate the polar regions. It makes Greenland as large as Africa when Africa is really 14 times larger! Greenland is only about the same size as Saudi Arabia or Algeria.  It's not nearly as large as Africa or Australia.

Distorted maps aside, I wanted to check out at least one corner of the island. I came over from Iceland for a short visit to the Kulusuk area in eastern Greenland. Camera problems but at least I got some good aerial shots.
