Bhutan is a small, mountainous country that has limited external contacts in order to preserve its traditional Buddhist culture, but it has more modern elements than I expected. My two-week journey around western and central Bhutan has ended but I hope to return someday. Below are a few photos of the beautiful valleys, amazing temples and dzongs, friendly people, and a crazy guy dancing on stage at a club in Paro.

The eighth pic shows a man with a cane on the main east-west "highway" across the country, often more narrow, usually in worse condition, rarely this straight. But of course the best adventures often involve twisting, perilous, bumpy roads. Near the bottom are three photos from a local festival in Ura in central Bhutan.

Cheers, Bill
